A Parody of Sorts on a Sunday

WARNING: The writing style of this post borrows heavily from a certain immensely irritating-annoying blogger (somewhere in this dimension) who recently posted something which deserves only one form of response - OMGWTF!!!
Fret not readers, I shall try to use grammatically correct English (as much as I was inspired, my conscience limits me).

I don't think you'll be reading this, but here's to you Ms. rOyAl StRaWbErRy (NOT!)

Oh Yeah!

I went shopping today, but the weather today right, was like uber hot while me and fellow friends (including a girl I used to call my "Forever B*tch") were driving downtown for some much needed quality catching up over a meal at The C. Club at you-know-where-lah-right?

People were like staring at us lo. Haha. I really no gan cheong at all ler. (Yours truly dressed down, while my companions of the female gender went overboard!) Seeing the girls go on a shopping crazy ride also make me frust jer. I could feel a fever rising!

So right, my bimbo friends wore heels-too-high-for-them and totally-inappropriate-for-shopping and got pains everywhere. We then bummed at that chocolate lounge/bistro. Oh this is where it all started lah, the girls started comparing and commenting on each other's purchases, buat I lagi geram jer.

I went to the loo swing swing a while, and ran into Joyce and her Little Mister Beefy, chit chat a while before heading back to the table; finding my friends still discussing their retail achievements of the day. I feel it boiling esp. from Stella's vibe (who btw, looked a bit ho-ish today. I say that with mucho love!) Maybe i look as if I'm going to eat people, or maybe with my puffy expression I portrayed disappointment. But none of them bothered, being too engrossed in themselves. (HMMPH! Tell me why are we friends again?)

At the very moment I grabbed my celly (which was placed on the table, between a mug and the ashtray), I got Flora's SMS. And I was like, "Har? What talking you... Want to call me, can call me now la!" Anyways, so at the end right, I just stood up and squealed, "That's it! I have had ENOUGH! I AM GONNA SHOP TOO!"

Then the skies started rumbling, like some burst pipe, and it rained cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rats, etc etc etc; you get the idea!

Conclusion: I DID go crazy on the Retail Therapy, with Mummy Dearest's consent, on the plastic. But I so lurrrve my single best, most important, victorious and loveliest purchase of the day!

Wonder what it is?

So exciting right? ;P

Jeng Jeng Jeng!

Let the photos do the talking!

*gulps* excessive saliva pooling but ugh, the paperbags so small only? Haha!

oic, they even wrapped IT in their signature white paper.
I don't know ma, I was busy looking @ myself in the abundant mirrors around the store. Meanwhile, the chicks were trying to taste all the pastries and cakes decorating the outlet. Guess they forgot their contacts, that they couldn't see that those deco items were all plastic-ized.

Being all high on ecstasy and adrenaline, I briskly removed the wrapped box out of the paperbag and placed it on my loud Aussino pink & turqoise floral print quilt cover.

Err, the lady who wrapped this needs some further training. =S

I opened one side. Ugh, funny taping!

Aaahhhhh, don't care already, just pull it out!
Gimme my preciiiooouuussss.

Ooo, got (sorta) glammed up case. How adorable!

I nearly fainted when I saw such a lovely casing.
Its content must be even more beautiful!

What? Somemore paper?
OMGOMGOMG!!! Is this real? *pinches my erm biceps*

Tadaaahhhh!!! My new wallet... snazzy no?
FYI, it's not black (just in case anyone comes to that deduction)
IT'S ALL REALLL!!!
I HAVE A NEW WALLET!
IT'S LEATHER!
WHAT I HAVE BEEN WANTING (for the past 2 months)
THE SALESGIRL DIDN'T NICK IT WHEN SHE WAS PACKING IT WITHOUT MY SUPERVISING.
IT'S REAL!!!

I WON THE FIGHT!
(I dono what tho, the honouree of this post just seems to love to say this a lot!)

Again. Hehehe
So hawt right? Not quite haute, but it's okay!

So, must do what leh???
Of coz... quick quick take few photos of some random guy on the street la...

Little Mr. Silver Man was sitting on the pavement at the aiya-so-busy-one punya traffic junction.
He was there when we passed him on the way to dinner, and STILL there 1.25 hours later.

So S and I gave him RM1.60!

Okie la...
hope you all are happy with me and for me!!!
=)

Again, this post is inspired by and written in parody honour of Ms. rOyAl StRaWbErRy!

But I really got a new wallet!

Disclaimer: All the real names of places, people, and events have been altered or abbreviated to protect the innocent. Mostly, me.

Oh btw, the blogger I am parodising (err is there even such a word?) and myself actually know each other in real life (at least acquaintances we are) and this is all done in good fun.

NOW DON'T GO SENDING ME HATEMAIL!

One Night Only

Or that was what I thought.

Last Saturday, I was just strolling around the display rooms of the country's IKEA to kill time, when E called. This was after the short cuppa with Mr. Drownedglass...

E, studying fashion design (and history?) in NYC was on transit in KL on his way to a CdG* show in Tokyo. So yeah, somehow he knew I was bored. "Okay, I pop over to IKEA now!"

Wheee...!!!

And it ended up with him MAKING me buy stuffs (Eh your room door very ugly lah! Your curtains too retro lah! Hello, I am just renting a room here! I can't do much to it!) But voila, somehow he was sooo gracious to buy three poster-paintings to pimp my room door!

The Curve seems so foreign nowadays. =( Haven't been there in months, although I spending my weekends in Damansara. Booooo... omg so crowded but the NYC undergrad has much more things to say (albeit not so nice).

As we parted ways to our respective dinner plans (My nephew turned 2!!! and more pervy too! More on this another time), I was overwhelmed with nostalgia and boohoohoo the separation blues from friend (15 years and counting!) and he turned, said "Stay tuned, darling! *WHAT?*

Later post-porky-birthday-dinner, E called, "Halloween party. Private. Go get dressed up! We will get p*ssed drunk" No prizes for guessing what I went as, under such short notice and circumstances. Some local celebrities spotted, like whatever, and the bungalow-mansion-palace venue is like sooo huge! (reminds me of a certain mall in Bandung) I thought twice on whether I should 'go wild' but heck, it's been so long since such parties since my notorious days in Penang & Singapore!

"One night only!"

Good fun, lotsa booze, new friends, dirty dancing, good ventilation, no chem!

And 9am the next day, I was dragged outta bed to accompany E and other old friends to go people-watching at the city twin torchlight towers! And ah, it was already flooded with people at barely an hour later. E and K, especially were not gracious with their comments on the majority's dress sense. Oh my.

Whatever happened to one night only?

I did my duty to generate the country's retail sector. There goes my allowance (and card limit) for November. Whoever runs Godiva in Malaysia would be ecstatically pleased. Speaking of which, they ran out of stock for CHOCOLIXIR!!! Pure blasphemy. It still didn't stop the gang from spending 4digits!

That marked the beginning of a full day of mall-hopping around this Valley. Phew! We spent close to RM50 on parking!

Okay, in retrospect, it might not have been so out-of-the-norm or headlines-worthy. But boy, it's been so long poor little joshy played like this. Ah back to the routine now!

And interspersed through this past week, random birthday celebrations, MORE booze and more getting-to-know-new-people? Under the influence, of coz.

Still having a hangover from all the clubhopping last night. And dehydrated.

P.S. I never thought an emo song can actually turn out to be a great dance track!

Flowery Week

I am being exposed to pollen way much more this past week than ever in my whole life.
[except that one time I was like a florist boy raising money for my college council.]

Now, for life size comparison... Lily bouquet and the petite one with tulips.

Rose, rose... I love you?

*Note: Just a filler post... I gotta find the time to properly document my kinda-wild Halloween weekend. Watch out for it.

Another Party Ending

Oh boy! 2 birthday parties tonight itself... Is it just my social circle or is this the fertile season for Gen-Y parents? I am like, celebrating a friend's birthday, almost every other day. Scrap that! Make that every other meal of the day!

"Darling, you know it's a fantabulous cocktail if you can't taste the booze!"

Fun. Joyful. Lotsa laughters. Quirky food choices!!! (the anterior 2/3rds of my tongue is still sensationally NUMB)

"b is for binge, p is for purge!"

Mindless chatter about the neighbourhood clown and loser-ish desperado and devilish schemes about a certain social destruction dominate the air. Discussing future plans isn't really a fun idea, is it? Less stress, and another pinch of suave seems to do to the trick.

And that's why I get invited to the best parties.

Truthfully, we're generally nice, in the most layman definition of the word. There's totally nothing boring about me and my friends, and the more I tell you about us, the more you'll be dying to know. But whatever!

Kinda exhausting though, considering one had a long day of classes, which involves inducing the gag reflex in patients and hitting their jaws with a hammer. LOL it's just another manic school day in my diary.

I have just been lazing around (attempted to) since we finished the Runway Show a few days back. Much deserved rest, I tell you. Thank goodness we reached our fiscal profit target (actually, we EXCEEDED it! Yippee aye yay!!!) I still can't believe I co-organised such a bombastic event... Had tonnes of fun meeting and working with new people <- side effects!

Probably it's just me, but I so totally don't dig how the so-called hotties receive such labels anyway? Hmm, guess there's only one hunkadory hottie in my eyes! *wink wink*

The stormy weather's kinda settled down this week around the Valley. But tumultous times lie ahead around town. An epic of this nature requires an observant, quick-witted scribe, and somebody around here has an impeccable eye for the most outrageous details. So I am just sitting back as the past unravels and dirty linen unrolls, because nasty juicy news don't stay hidden, and whatever we don't know, someone will invent elaborately.

MORE SOON... So long!

P.S. Bonne anniversaire to the birthday darlings of mine! *mucho love*

Joke of the day:
How does a brain cell of a dumb blonde die/apoptosize?

Answer: ALONE!

Oh My!

It's been sooo long and I haven't even put up a real post.

I know.

My bad. My bad.

Been too preoccupied with all the classes and late night parties.

A boy's gotta keep up his social image, y'know?

All good and safe fun.

Hopefully I can squeeze some time out to write a good one tomorrow.

It's family day today. And everything else can wait.

Happy holidays, everyone! And Happy Birthday, Dr Paul! Cheerio!

Love's all around,
joshy

P.s. I have been receiving several spam mails offering to cast me in porn. Thanks, but no thanks. In good faith to protect the innocent, namely me.

Back!

Permanently I hope... the past month has been such a whirlwind of experiences!

Theft-in-car, emo dramas, intense b*tching GG style and all the familial conflicts. Ah hardly any time to breathe, chill and soak in the sunny scenery.

Ah yes, not forgetting the mounting stress levels prior to the cheerleading finals. Whee! Sweetness of the gold medal.

Not very cogent right now, but yeah, time to get back to the norm schedule and familiarity and seriously lose some of the flabs! So depressing, I tell you.

Feeling good and blessed to be above the poverty line =P Thank you very much.

More than anything, feeling lucky being in love with my best friend.

Till a proper post, Ta!

Jakarta

This is one crazy city!!! The traffic is beyond comprehension... Think the MRR2 jams are bad? Then go to Jakarta and experience those there. OMG and the Indonesian definition of a 'maintaining a safe distance' can so totally induce a collapse in the faint-hearted.

But I am still loving it. It was fun despite the scorching hot sun and near-death experiences crossing the road to the other side. Think Pavilion is cool? Wait till you visit Plaza Indonesia... okay, maybe only slightly better la.

The Indonesian National Monument (Monas), otherwise affectionately known as "Soekarno's Final Erection"

Snapshot from the Monas viewing gallery

Another?

Look closer at the statue lady's left hand... hehe

Very snazzy museum - The Jakarta History Museum

Random wall paintings.

Some thing of historical importance I presume.

Passion

A very strong word that struck me hard in the head just this past weekend. How a simple word can do wonders to so many people (in this instance, with a common interest)... but unfortunately lacking in many of the young today. An amazing event pulling the heartstrings at all the right places. Yup, a lightbulb moment it was.

Has the 'tak-apa'/nonchalant attitude swept us in an invisible storm? Truthfully, how many of us have really identified our 'passion(s)' and really worked in its direction? Have we lived with passion? For one, I'd cowardly hide my head. Sure, I have many things I feel strongly about but to say that I have made something out of them is a far stretch. Haha, those who know me may realise how short is the attention span of this wretch. For most, going with the flow of the tides appear to be a simpler route and much more secure to, viewing from an outcome-based perspective. Living life to meet expectations; to conform to norms, to undergo birth, ageing, sickness and death. Is death the end? Or merely the beginning of another journey?

Passion. An incredible thing that may actually hint to solving what could be the PENULTIMATE question of all time.

How does my life count?

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "It's not the length of life, but its depth that counts."

That does it for me.

Far greater things have yet to come, and greater things are still to be done here.

Share with me, how do you think you count for something?

New Phase

Somehow one can take this stage as a new one or an ala finale to very substantial aspects of my life. Those that are deeply engraved in me for years to come.

Distance does entice the physical longing to the life counterpart but faith and strong principles are steadfast tactics in staying tough. Not pure machismo per se but knowledge that a loving life shared is a very long journey and just stay optimistic in looking forward to that fine, sunny orange-coloured day. Love does funny things to a person. =P

Emptiness periodically fills my mind amidst the chaos that is befalling upon me; left, right and centre. Hardly any time to breathe and slow down to enjoy the view YET being able to stone and freeze in the moment. A home (which is turning more comfy and homey) that no longer feels so familiar - Home is where the heart is, but the heart is halfway across the universe [a hyperbole no doubt but it sure feels like it literally]

What to do with so much free time? Paradox eh? Much more time to explore deep down underneath this temporary shell and meanwhile develop new friendships. To completely focus and have coning attention on the set priorities (whichever they appear to be; adaptable to circumstances).

Current placement in what most shall declare as godforsaken places open eyes to unknown, unheard-of cultures. To keep a broader view on things, surroundings and humanity, probably even just in the locality. To honour and respect people with the truest intention and appreciate the returns.

To be truly annoyed by whiners and hypocritical personas who self-idolise and forcefeed their own faux ideals on what they view as inferiors/backward people. I hope it backfires.

Back to work. Back to what got me here in the first place. Back to the thought that fills my mind.

Not a minute passes by without my heart missing you.

Weird or Norm?

Me, being fully-bred in a small town (relatively to the capital that is Kuala Lumpur) was intrigued with the gargantuan skyscrapers and other national landmarks whenever I make my trip here in my younger days, much much younger.

Pretty jakun, I hear you!

And ever since moving here, I get surprised (impressed or the contrary) by the various facets of the people of KL. Despite all the claims that 50% of them are not even from KL.

Odd odd incidences to recollect.

When The Husband was practically extorted (with no weapon) by an elderly man at Puduraya. "Give me 2 ringgit or I will rob you off your bags" to which The Husband just walked away.

How someone I know is being taught saxophone by a guy named after a vegetable.

On witnessing an estranged couple strangling each other in public.

How a car reversed into the car behind it when the traffic lights turned green.

How you ask for a box of matches from a sundry shop and the keeper passes over a pack of incense.

Oh yeah, how can I leave out the ubiquitous *yet traumatising* of random persons urinating in public ie. AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS!!!

Most recently, at a drinks stall...

Makcik: "Adik, kopi O ais ni RM1.20"
Random Guy: "Makcik, aiya satu ringgit cukup dah lah!"
Makcik: "Tak boleh dik, barang semua dah naik harga dah!"
RG: "Tapi makcik, satu ringgit lah. I kan beli dari makcik tiaptiap hari."
Makcik: "Tak boleh! RM1.20!"
RG: "I sekarang ni tak ada syiling"
Makcik: "Tak apa, makcik boleh bagi balik wang tukar."
RG: "I tak nak syiling lah makcik!"
Makcik: "TAK ADA DISKAUN UNTUK KOPI O AIS!"
RG: "Boleh lah makcik? Kalau tak boleh I cancel order tu la"

Like, I could help but to be amused. So I turned my head and continued to savour my RM1.30 Teh O Ais Limau. Never have I ever seen somebody bargain for a pack of Kopi O Ais like haggling for pirated Gucci bags at Petaling Street.

Don't get me wrong. I still *heart* this city.

Unlike a neighbouring nation, where news like smuggling 40kg worth of non halal chicken is front page news! And on the primetime TV news as well!!

of the simple life

Life has taken a twist lately.

A higher tolerance of stress and unbeknownst demands. Probably others might take it as being nonchalant or even the cliched 'tak-apa' attitude.

Easy contentment does not come easy. But *sigh of relief* it has been good.

Laughter and lame jokes over dinner at the famous ?regional? taichow.

Driving all the way to some NOT-KLANG ulu place (where my celly reception fell down to 70%) to have some awesome DRY bak kut teh. [Further details may make this post very unacceptable to the halal-seeking populace]
Ordering practically every single dish the restaurant could conjure. [till the sphincters threatened to give way]
Irritating the waitress(es) with incessant requests for BKT soup top-up.

Driving halfway across the valley to get some porridge.

B*tching about national and communal news along with the Mother.

Not bothered while celebrities make their entrances in the place we are dining.

Having random people say "I appreciate you a lot" and not get freaked out.

Discovering the bank account is not in deficit.

Cuddling with the Boyfriend for some quality bedtime.

Quiet nights at home for personal 'alone time'

Addendum: Escaping to never-heard-of-before urban alleys for a wholesome homey-ish midnight non-halal nasi lemak & curry Chee Cheong Fun after a long day of studying hard.

With luncheon meat and lap cheong plus fried long beans!!!

Hmm, simple life is good.

Now, if only my effing stupid Internet will speed up a little, in heaven's name!

Sunday Wild Ride

My scheduled lazy Sunday did not go as planned though.

A high school friend (now entomologist extraordinaire) had a rough tiff with his chick last nite and needed some consolation in his trying time. So he came to drive me out for lunch, or so I assumed, in the Klang Valley.

Somehow, an hour later, we ended up in Malacca City. Which was having an hyperinflux of tourists.

Result = HORRIBLE JAM ALL AROUND THE ONE-WAY-ONLY TOWN STREETS!

Phew! We finally got to Nadeje Cafe and got their OHSOWONDERFUL mille crepe cakes. [Note: Malaccans are so lucky!!!]

A HUMONGOUS ICE BOX OF THE CAKES. To transport back to BLESSED FRIENDS IN KLANG VALLEY.

Icebox in question: 1m X 0.7 m X 1m. Guess the Japanese owner was smiling so widely cos we bought half of the cakes on display. Thank goodness for Visa card! =)

And the drive home was 4 hours long :( Friggin' school holiday crowd I reckon.

The friend was speeding and arguing with his GF (on the mobile) on the PLUS highway. I had to use my 3 limbs to brace his every ala Initial D maneouvres while one was protecting the cakes from deformities.

I really thought my dead body is going to be found with a box of cakes. Presently, still a little traumatised from the wild ride.

Summary:
2 hours drive to Malacca.
1 hour in Melaka (Lunch and cake shopping)
4 hours drive home to the Valley

P.S. Service and food at Famosa Chicken Rice Balls kinda sux!!!

Quirky New Pathologist

One of the fun parts about studying medicine is having visual stimulation [well, for one I have seen waaaayyyy too much boo-bies and vajayjays for my own good]. Most of our learning, in my opinion, is derived from such modes.

Pictures, photographs, charts, mind-maps, potted models of organs (healthy and otherwise), plastic life-size mannequins and skeletons... but of course, training with the aid of a real patient of course.

We have it all.

Anatomy, Physiology, Embryology, Microbiology and definitely, Pathology.

Dear old Pathology. The science of disease. The core text for this section involves a whole family namely Papa, Mama and Baby Patho [That's Pathologic Basic of Disease (Full edition, Basic & Handbook respectively) by Kumar, Cotran & Collins for you all other med ppl out there]

In the recent months, the Department of Pathology had a new addition, Dr. Maria [Name has been changed for the greater good]. American-trained, lots of clinical and teaching experience. Gosh, the other pathologists call her... Mariaaaaa!!! *like calling a Filipina maid somewhat

Prior to attending her lecture, news about her incompetence and lack of tact has reached me from other batches. And man, I entered the class with so much prejudice that I was blanking her out though *pretending to be* attentively interested. An example of her teaching methods/questioning:

Describe the picture shown.

Maria: What can you see, class?
Random voice #1: Liquefactive necrosis!!! *with much enthusiasm*
Random voice #2: Necrotising fasciitis!!!
Maria: It is an amputated leg! *beaming smile*
Maria: You must say that first ok? Then you must state the colour of the skin. *point point* Do you see this leg has some callous on the heels?
Maria: Add, there is some bloody flesh at the top. Lastly, only you say there's necrosis.

Maria: Class, can you see the twist? Maybe he overdid a cha-cha or mambo?
Maria: No, this is NOT from a black man!

Maria: Remember!!! YELLOW YELLOW YELLOW!!! Remember this colour... Now repeat after me. YELL-OW!!!
*Yes, half of the class did.

She must be thinking she's teaching a kindergarten class. LOL

I am most definitely not judging or complaining about her. I lurve her style! I can proudly say I remembered almost everything she taught me in her class. She is so fun to observe with her idiosyncratic behaviour and all. Even when she buys food in the cafeteria.

And of course, her infective beaming smile. =D

FYI, just in case anyone wants to know...

Picture 1: Diabetic patient.
Picture 2: Torsion of the Spermatic Cord/Testicular Torsion aka Twisted Balls. Turns black due to the lack of blood supply
Picture 3: Fatty liver. Due to unhealthy diet or alcohol.

Intermittent Thoughts

Sometimes I just feel like I am forever in med school... and graduation (hoping that it would eventually come) seems like an aeon away =(

Maternal and Child Health posting this month... so yeah, Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Paediatrics. Exciting, disgusting but a very optimistic side if compared to all the morbidity in other departments.

A proper post on my birthday is due, but still in progress la. This week is a killer. I am hanging on a thin wire and am on the verge of drowning.

Also, the theory of "6 degrees of separation" still amazes me; how small the world can be, for people to be so closely linked? Especially among the fags. [Just a conclusion from this control sample population]

Well, that and the answer to all questions in life remains to be answered only after this week has settled down and I have less weight to juggle with social responsibilities and academic burdens in training.

Tata.

'tis been a long month

This April started with a Bang! Lotsa happenings even during the first week.

I bid farewell to Paperbag Boy, who starting a new life Down South with a clean slate. It was the month of many birthdays and birthday parties. How such seemingly trivial gatherings of friends together can serve so much as to strengthen bonds and camaraderie!

Haha and I guess we all learned how important it is to ensure the restaurant you want your party's food from is OPEN!!! Ahem, we found out that our choice of eateries for one of the parties was under RENOVATION like 6 hours prior. You can imagine chaos right then!

And I sorta cemented closeness with a sorta new addition of my existing "Gang" so to speak. We truly love you! (And I am saying this on behalf of like 80% of us) and I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT and YOUR PACT FOR REVENGE!!! But it is fine. Your secret is safe with me. You are a bad liar, FYI!

Classes were long and really required a lot from me. I have not fallen asleep NOR skipped any classes or lectures yet as of today. Phew! Hopefully I can make this the semester where I am well-behaved and be a good student. *fingers crossed*

I also commenced this module which SHOULD BE CALLED "National Brain-washing Propaganda Programme" but it is not. Thankfully, the lecturer is soooo remarkable and modernistic, so to speak that she actually sold the lessons very well. Mostly due to her unearthing of gossips, dark controversies and generally, extremely politically incorrect statements. She is like the a tolerant version of the American Moore fat-guy. The only topic she covered so far which is actually in the syllabus is "Getting to Know the Natives of East Malaysia!" Haha

This was also the month where many dark secrets were unfold and let out, which till today haunts me a little. Ah how April has taught me to dig deeper when gathering thoughts and opinions; never ever resolving to superficial facts! How amazing it is when such stories emerge from the depths of an undiscovered abyss. Though a shock but a very comforting one at that.

Prom has come and gone. Ah the Panic! has dissolved at quite an astonishing speed. How shopping for the One-Night-Only affair has led to me buying stuffs I will NEVER NEED AGAIN! But hey I learned where to get all those snazzy flea market merchandises on SALE!

The events leading up to Prom Nite itself is very much deserving of SEVERAL blogposts but since I am a lazy blogger, a summary will suffice to vet your appetite for now.

I woke up after sleeping for barely 5 hours, to the sounds of "Happy Tree Friends" (Yes, the person who called me has the personality of characters from said cartoon series!) so as to follow another friend to shop for his clothes for the night. It was like 10 am and 8 hours before the event started. Since said latter friend was an easily-contented male shopper, we were done quite early BUT I... ended up buying more stuffs =( After getting home, we spent waaayyyyy too much time parading in our 'looks' for the night and before we knew it, we were gonna be late for our hair appointment in downtown KL. So reschedule lor.

And OMGKNNCCBWTF we met with this horrendous traffic jam just as we entered Bukit Bintang area. The speed at which we drove was 1m/15min. Grr. Okeh, now about the haircut. I really liked what the guy did for me (though I think he wanted to do a cut similar to having a dead squirrel on my head had my hair been long enough). Unfortunately, my hair isn't really evident in the pictures but I rocked it! I really wished I had the Bernard Chandran-lookalike 'artistic director' though. I got someone who looked like a younger version of Marc Jacobs.

The coolest thing is... people keep on asking if I cut my hair AGAIN cos it looks different everyday. Honestly, I am too un-industrious to spend more than 30 seconds on my hair.

When we were set to leave said mall, IT WAS POURING CATS AND DOGS OUTSIDE. So in a surge of hormonal irregulation, I bought a friggin' expensive umbrella to cross the street of width 5 metres. Changed in the carpark and I guess the securities manning the CCTVs saw everything... and I drove for like 2 minutes, evading the jam and got to the Prom's venue in one piece, dry and dashing. *cough cough*

A point worthy of noting is that the other car my friends were in took 2 hours to get from Pavilion to Sg Wang. LoL

Well nothing much can be said about the event, an evening of camwhoring with everybody and "Hi, darling!" "I love your look, beautiful!" "OMG, you are shimmering tonight!". It was comforting to get some compliments back as well. =) By the end of the night, I was having a little headache and my eyes blurry from all the flashes. The food sucked, but I won't know. I only stayed at my table till the 3rd dish before setting off to take powershots with who's-who at campus.

Hence, I ended up suffering from gastric pains at the end of the night and resorted to McD drive-thru in the wee hours of the morning.

If you have me on facebook, then maybe you can see the pics. There are close to 70 albums!

It was World Book Day yesterday so some of the bookaholics in my gang headed off to BookXcess at Amcorp Mall to get our hands on some cheap buys!!! I manage to control my compulsive book-purchasing disorder and left with 4 only! I think I saw a pink blogger there but I dono, never met the guy before. Other familiar faces spotted were Joanna Bessey and Na'a Murad?

Last random comment: Definitely, Maybe has gotta be the most painful romantic comedy I have ever watched. Definitely, not Maybe. I was wringing in my seat in the whole. OMG When is this gonna end??? Super-confusing plot and Ryan Reynolds isn't even that hawt there.

And... GUESS WHO HAS A BRAND-NEW IPOD TOUCH???

That's me in scrubs.

OMG I AM SO MADLY IN LOVE WITH IT! But not half as much as the sweetheart who bought it for me! (The BF la, duh!)

I love you, dear!

Panic!

Ahem!

Prom is coming around the corner... so much sooner than I expected.

It's just like to celebrate our upcoming transition from medical to clinical training.

And ah yes! PANIC!!!

Notably, being a fantabulous fag and all requires me to pull out all the gimmicks and whatever thingamajigs and really dress to the nines for this event.

Ah I also gotta prepare a change cos the gang's planning to paint the town red after the whole event. Which points to possible spottings, maybe.

It is so stressful having a happening life. LoL

However, main concerns of mine constitute the 6 H's.

Hot. Haute. Handsome. Heavy. High. Ho.

Hot - Gosh! The tux!!! I am so gonna burn in it. I am more of a slacker beach boy. I was actually hunting for something ala Patrick Dempsey in Enchanted but nehhh.... narrowed in to something that is contemporary meets medieval.

Haute - Cos that's what the hairstylist and make-up [just kidding] promised me.

Handsome - Ah well at least The BF thinks so. Worried about my tan, a lil.

Heavy - Sighs. Been trying to burn some inches off to not much avail as of yet. Also, my whole ensemble is not heavy on colour =(

High - This is like such a high life thingy with people really splurging on RM2k suits and Rm1k gowns already. I also have to control myself and not be too high ending up being a freakshow.

Ho - camw(HO)ring... Ah I will so totally rock this, I hope? *crosses fingers*

It is so hard to impress when I already have this LOUD fashionista-ish [in like a totally metro way] appearance and reputation during NORMAL days in university. Everytime I see something I like and ask for opinions from the friends...

"But you wear like this to uni one what? Where got spesel? So boring for you."

Guess I will just have to make an entrance exuding fabulosity much alike to my lady Kimora Lee Simmons!

I am so anx-ner-cited.

That's a cocktail of anxious, nervous and excited!

Update!

1. If anyone saw a guy garbed in Zara and AX walking around 1U while unfabulously eating a bowl of or ah mee sua (Oyster Vermicelli) yesterday, it wasn't me okeh!

2. I have developed a phobia of boring people. Really.

3. I have also started learning Tamil, rather diligently. Very useful language. Using Cantonese vulgarities is so 90s trend.

The Rest of Life

John F. Kennedy said, "The courage of life is a magnificent mixture of triumph and tragedy. A man does what he must, in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures. And that is the basis of all morality".

The rest of our lives is a long time.

And whether we realise it or not, it is being shaped right now.

We can choose to blame our circumstances on fate or bad luck or bad choices or we can fight back.

Things aren't always going to be fair in the real world, that's just the way it is but for the most part you get what you give.

Have you ever wondered? What's worse? Not getting everything you wished for or getting it but finding out it's not enough?

The rest of your life is being shaped right now with the dreams you chase, the choices you make and the person you decide to be. The rest of your life is a long time and the rest of your life starts right now.

Calcium and Lactose

There is nothing more grim than the prospects of returning back to the routine of classes and lectures after a short yet sorta-fulfilling holiday period. And me and some friends set out for a sorta delusional final escape to rejuvenate ourselves in view of the inevitable Monday.

Sure is a wonderful-tasting milk at a wonderful price.

I do! I do! Totally revived my love for dairy! Hehe

My BBQ Chicken Sandwich (appears to be Gardenia bread huh?), Iced Mocha and fanciful company.

I love this deer at our table.

A homemade national flag. How patriotic huh.

The gallery on the wall.

Fact? or faux pas?

Playing naughty scrabble!

Wisteria Lane

I might as well, move into the neighbourhood with likes of Susan, Bree and Lynette.

My househusband instincts are going on hyperdrive.

Oh well, at least I am not desperate.

Odd Things Happen to Me

Right now, I am in this CC with the guy next to me blasting (like really loudly) MVs of Paris Hilton, Celine Dion and M2M ... I am like dumbfounded.

So why am I here?

As fate would have it, I was woken up at 8am by my highschool friends (those who are in town) to go for a dimsum breakfast (yeah the old ritual where we used to skip morning assemblies and sneak back into classes) and then...

I was dragged to this CC (very clean, smoke-free, reasonable rates) to play Command & Conquer: Red Alert! Maklumlah, I am not very good at this RPGs. But I entertain diorang jer la.

Yes, at this very early hour!

Okay... got more funny things befallen my path okeh?

One fateful morning I was following the Surgeon (my idol no. 2) doing ward rounds in the wee hours and a nurse (she must be really blurred from the midnight shift)... asked me, "Are you a new doctor here? How should I call you, doc?"

I am like, "Err... I am still a student" to which she commented, "Eh you look like the Surgeon la, brothers ah?"

Hmm... So weird!

Then while I was on OBGYN posting (Obstetrics and Gynaecology), I saw a lot of really gross things growing out of you-know-where. Which will leave me traumatised for some time to come.

Okay, but the main point is... on one occasion, I was dressed all ready to the nines for the OT (scrubs, cap and mask) and I was listening to the yakking specialist I was following, when suddenly I was groped in the butt, quite roughly.

OUCH!

Then, the perpetrator spoke, "Eh Oops! Wrong person I thought you were (insert name of the Surgeon, my idol No.2)! Sorry ah"

He was the urologist.

I have also patients who commented about me to their grandchildren who happen to be my classmates.

Gosh, imagine what kinda things surgeons do to each other in the vicinity of the Operation Theatre huh? Lucky anaesthetists would enjoy the freeflow of cold air and barely clothed surgeons prodding in and out?

Nasty!

End note: The Procedure for Prolapse and Haemorrhoidectomy (PPH) will leave anyone with a distaste for intimacy and playing with guns and staplers. =S

Recently

Home is where the heart is, huh?

Well, I am technically in my hometown, doing some elective posting with my family's favourite physician.

Imagine Grey's Anatomy.

Where Izzie, Cristina, Meredith, Alex run around Addison, McDreamy, McSteamy (drools!) and Bailey the Nazi. (true up to Season 3). Where the young ones are being tortured, or subjected to whatever 'training' the seniors deem fit. Ah the inevitable unkind words and sinister laughter when someone falters.

Except this is a 10-hour long stint daily. Not a 45-minute episode per week!

"You're supposed to know this! Why don't you know this?" "Pay close attention!" "No, you cannot see this!" "You are not colourblind, assess correctly!" "If you don't know this, you will FAIL!"

And like, WHO ELSE IN THE WHOLE WIDE EARTH HAS DO TO HOMEWORK WHEN THEY ARE ON ELECTIVE?????

Nobody, but me. Yes people. I have to go home and study and complete assignments to present to my external supervisor =(

Even after long long days, sometimes with no lunch break.

But all's well.

I am grumbling here. But OMG I am learning so much, seen/touched/heard/percussed a lot of the pathological manifestations ONLY seen/described in theory.

Also, it does not hurt when I am acknowledged for answering questions correctly.

I can see worse things coming in the later years so I guess this is preparation for the onslaught? To be fair, the doctors I am following are very passionate about their jobs and naturally have higher expectations. Okay, not all. But mostly they are very inspiring and motivating lor.

In them, I see hope for the country! [Like the recent tides of change in politics la...]

Especially my supervisor. OMG his philosophical talks are so uplifting and encouraging. Like he is a celestial being-incarnate or something like that. Like HOW CAN ANYONE BE SO NEUTRAL AND NICE?

I wanna be like him. He is my Superhero!

In summary, my routine (6 days/week) goes like this:

Wake up, Surgery/Imaging, Lunch [sometimes unavailable], Clinic Hours, (Gym [whenever I am not lazy, and that's very often]), Home, HOMEWORK, Call the BF, SLEEEEEPPP.

Press *repeat*.

One word: NO LIFE!

Naked people, cleaning poo, examining newborn babies, boobies, vaginas [I have seen more in a week than most straight guys would dream of, in a lifetime! And this involves sticking long, slim sticks into them], touching patients at various parts of their bodies, gasping at fountains of blood [SOOOOO MUCH BLOOOD!|!!! Good thing I am not into the vampire cult], received the arrival of new life into the world, listening to yelling angry patients, neurotic hypochondriacs, collapsing patients et cetera.

Also, watching floating faeces on video! And AMITRYPTYLLINE - the magic pill!

One question: WHY zero HOT GUY PATIENTS????? Whyyyy??? =(

All in all, an overwhelming holistic experience!

*But, but, but... my heart is longing for somewhere else. ;P

Ad Errata: If there's any mistakes in any form, I apologise. I am freeloading off the paediatrician's comp while she's away.

Worst 15 Minutes of My Life

(in recent history, that is... Not totally ever)

I woke up this morning, with much reluctance, to pay bills. Yes boring.

As I got home, I noticed the utter silence. Pindrop silence.

[Usually my PC will be buzzing away and the antique air-conditioning thing will be woosh-ing away.]

PANIC!

I immediately ran to the electric box or whatever its called near the main door and flicked the switch up. And down. And up. Again and again.

NOTHING.

Shite. MY PRONNNN!!!!!

*I MUST GET ELECTRICITY BACK!

And the second thing that crossed my mind was, THE FRIDGE!!!!! My ice-creammmm...

Thirdly, I thought of how I am going to survive in a enclosed space with no cool air or working fan.

Fourthly, I thought, maybe this is the right time to panic!

Fifthly, I decided against the above line and chose to be calm.

So I left the house to check out if my neighbours are experiencing the same problem.

Heck. Everybody's at work.

Then I opened the door to the electric mainboard right outside the smallest room of my apartment. WTF SO MANY WIRES AND SWITCHES! No way I am touching anything, I don't wanna be electrocuted to char siew! [Non-halal, sorry!]

And as I walked to the lobby of my floor, I thought I should probably leave early for my lunch with extended family.

LIFTS NOT WORKING! WTFDOT.

No way I am gonna go down on the staircase on what seems like a thousand flights of stairs.

Then, I heard, "Hello! Hello!" with some inaudible grumbling animal-like sounds.

Suddenly, a hand pops out of the door of housemate-from-the-smallest-room's "bad day lift".

I ran. HANTUUUUU!!!!! *eh like horror movie okeh!*

Only when I reached the living room and calmed down, I thought, "That should be a poor guy stuck in elevator la hor?"

At that very moment, I heard some random clickety-clacks and the electricity's back.

Peace and order is restored once again. =)

Cure for a Screwed Up Life

Not approved by FDA nor KKM!

p.s. Anyways, I survived and am going to 3rd year of med school! I still can't believe it! I think I am having a prolonged overdose on serotonin, dopamine, cocaine and other whatever endogenous neurochemicals. Resulting in severely altered behaviour, shortened attention span and psychotropic high.

I think I did very naughty things with my results slip when I got drunk last night!

Saturday, February 16, 2008

Whoa!

Finally, my 2nd year finals (except that it wasn't held at the end of the academic year) are over and done with! I hope I did well enough to survive thru med school. [Results next week!]

Having to sit for a clinical examination paper (2 consecutive days) just tells me I am this much closer to really be on the job soon.

Anyways, shan't bore you peeps with my boring-ness. I have been doing nothing but SLEEP and EAT and surf the NET (press 'repeat')

I found this cool guy singing on youtube. Nick Pitera.

Just watch and listen to him. OMGawd... so geng! Not perfect but whoa.

Doesn't hurt that he is kinda cute. ;P

[Tim, don't start the t***k comment again pls!]

*Try listening to HIM, without looking at the screen... then you will understand what I mean with his WHOA! factor.

Bleeding Love

A Whole New World from Disney's Aladdin

Part of Your World from Disney's The Little Mermaid

One Sweet Day, originally by Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men

Tuesday, February 05, 2008

At this moment there are 6,470,918,671 people in the world.

Some are running scared. Some are coming home. Some tell lies to make it through the day. Others are just not facing the truth. Some are evil men at war with good, and some are good struggling with evil. Six billion people in the world. Six billion souls.

Give or take a few and sometimes all you need is one.

For better or for worse.

Life is funny sometimes. It can push pretty hard but if you look close enough, you can find hope in the words of children, in the bars of the song and in the eyes of someone you love. And if you're lucky, if you're the luckiest person on this entire planet, the person you love decides to love you back.

George Bernard Shaw once wrote;

"There are two tragedies in life. One is to gain your heart's desire. The other is to lose it"

If love is tragic, then give me tragedy. Because I wouldn't give it back for the world.

After Party

So last nite, was the "Surprise!!!" birthday party for me longtime friend, E.

She was majorly moody cos everybody wished her Happy Birthday but no one wanted to hang out with her.

And the pain was amplified by an SMS from E the Second, "I am busy today lah. Why you not doing anything today ah?"

Little did E the Birthday Girl know that her BF and E the Second and Chinese-Girl-with-French-Name planned her Greek-themed surprise party from the comfort of her own home, with Daddy's help. While they were out buying discounted Baskin Robbins ice-cream for Daddy.

The 'altar'? With her birthday (cup) cakes.

Everybody brought some food ala potluck. I brought... soft drinks. LOL

There was pasta, pizza, salads, fruits (which was hardly partaken), homemade ayam goreng, nuggets, longans, lokams and KFC!!!

And we had like 60% leftovers.

Anyways, when she came in... she had the shock of her life. And was moved to tears.

Hurray US!

The cuppacake cupcakes I bought.

So we ate and talked and laughed and drank... longan with Sprite. No alcohol =(

Hey we played drinking games using the fruits ... Botak Kin had to consume a whole watermelon [sliced, of course] cos he lost to everybody. Hmph challenge the Hippo's manhood somemore lah.

Quotes from Botak Kin:

"I am pregnant with a watermelon." "I am going to poo and make the toilet all red and when my mum sees the toilet, she will think I just started menstruating." "You ho! Wait... I fertilise you with watermelon seeds!"

Other notable moments included the notable Pelf doing his lame arsey depiction of a comatosed patient (A retard trying to draw!!!) and a choo-choo! train (Farking while smoking!) during Charades.

A good night out with kerazee people. Making me less guilty for staying away from studying, a bit. The other plus point is that almost everyone there were like HOT STUFF ok! OMGawd. Congregation of young hotties (of both genders of coz!)

Her pet prawns shed their exoskeleton during the party.

NEXT SCENE:

Gardens MV. Friday. Malaysia's Federal Territories Day.

An small quaint party of 5 guys to bid adieu to Kekex who is bound for Aussie soon and celebrate PaperBagBoy's 19th birthday this weekend.

It has been a while, hasn't it?

Tim's a fan of potatoes. *winks*

My Grilled Duck Breast with grass-donno-what with oranges.

Tonnes of b*tching and laughing.

The Party of Five.

We adjourned for desserts before parting ways. [OMFG sounds so poignant!]

And saw a familiar face on the way out of Alexis. ;P

P.S. Kekex, WE WILL MISS YOU! and your JOKES *cough cough* Take care of yourself Down Under, sweetie!

And see you Monday.
